What is Coratherapy? Principles, Effects, Side Effects, Downtime, Costs, and Reviews

Hello, this is Rodam Korean Medicine Clinic, starting the journey of erasing scars with Coratherapy.
Coratherapy, known to be effective for treating depressed scars.
At Rodam, we have been treating depressed scars under the name Coratherapy since 2006.
We have accumulated expertise over 20 years of treating depressed scars.
Therefore, today, based on the expertise we have built over the years,
we would like to talk about everything about Coratherapy, such as its principles, effects, downtime, side effects, costs, and reviews.

What is Coratherapy?

Rodam Korean Medicine Clinic’s Coratherapy is a treatment method for depressed scars that began in 2006.
It is a procedure that stimulates the skin’s natural regenerative power to encourage new skin growth.
Rodam Korean Medicine Clinic’s Coratherapy uses specially designed needles during the procedure,
allowing for more precise stimulation of the boundaries between scars and normal skin.
This makes it possible to treat depressed scars more effectively and naturally.
Additionally, it has the advantage of being able to treat various types of depressed scars,
such as acne scars, chickenpox/shingles scars, and surgical scars.

The Principle of Coratherapy

The treatment principles and process of Coratherapy are as follows.

STEP. 01

Coratherapy delicately breaks the fibrous tissues that create the depressed scar,
which are the adhesion tissues pulling the skin downward.
In this process, it creates a ‘space for new skin to grow’ under the scar,
and as the force pulling the skin downward is relieved,
conditions are created for the skin to rise upward.

STEP.02

The space created by Coratherapy naturally increases blood supply,
attracting cells and growth factors necessary for skin regeneration.
This activates fibroblasts, leading to the creation of new skin tissues such as collagen and elastin.

STEP.03

Through this series of processes, the newly grown tissue fills the depressed area,
and as the process of keratin shedding repeats, the height gradually aligns with the normal skin.

Side Effects and Downtime of Coratherapy

Does Coratherapy have only advantages without any side effects?
It would be a lie to say there are no side effects at all.
All procedures have side effects.
Coratherapy can also cause side effects.
However, most are temporary and can be resolved with proper care.

Commonly mentioned side effects of Coratherapy include redness, swelling, and bruising.
However, these are natural recovery processes,
and their downtime is as follows.

Redness
: It varies by individual but generally fades after 7 days.
In some cases, it may persist for more than 2 weeks, but it will disappear over time.

Swelling, Bruising
: Swelling may occur for 2–2 days due to needle stimulation,
and bruising usually disappears within a week.

However, in rare cases, side effects such as inflammation or hyperpigmentation may occur.
To prevent this, it is essential to conduct thorough consultations before and after the procedure for customized treatment,
keep the treated area clean following the Doctor’s instructions,
and always use sunscreen.
Additionally, instead of opting for a strong procedure at once, it is safer to proceed gradually over multiple sessions.
Even if the scars are deep and you wish for quick and strong treatment,
it is better to have patience and receive treatment tailored to your skin condition.

Cost and Reviews of Coratherapy

Then, how much does Coratherapy cost?
For a 5mm scar, the cost of one session of Coratherapy is 100,000 KRW.
However, for cases like acne scars spread across the entire cheek,
charging for each scar individually may result in a high cost.
In such cases, the cost is calculated by area to reduce the burden.
We would like to provide an exact figure,
but since Coratherapy is a personalized treatment, it is difficult to specify a fixed price.
The cost varies depending on the type of scar and the extent of its spread,
so we recommend consulting us for a more accurate price.

Of course, you may think the cost is high.
However, Coratherapy is conducted in a way that fills the skin from within, making the effects long-lasting.
It does not affect the normal skin outside the treatment area,
and the treatment is done so that the boundary lines blend seamlessly.
When the procedure is complete, it will be difficult to tell where the scar was,
as the depressed scar naturally recovers, restoring the original skin as if the scar never existed.
Considering this, we believe the cost will not feel overly burdensome.

Today, we discussed what Coratherapy is,
including its principles, side effects, downtime, costs, and reviews.
We hope this article has answered some of your questions.
